Chitika have announced a number of changes for some hours ago. The new things are 18 new categories (a total of 44):

They have also released four new sizes for multi product eMinimalls. The new sizes are:

• 468 x 60
• 250 x 250
• 300 x 250
• 728 x 90

Is the fairy tale already over? Since Chitika eMiniMalls took the first steps to lower the CTR to stop “curiosity clicks” more and more people are making less money with Chitika eMiniMalls. Some have lost 80% - 90% of their old income from Chitika eMiniMalls! So, the question is if people will continue to use Chitika eMiniMalls? Here are some blog comments about this:

I first raised my eyebrows when the Chitika team took steps to lower CTR so advertisers wouldn’t have to pay for “curiosity clicks” (a “curiosity clicker” being one who checks out the product, but doesn’t buy). As far as I’m concerned, that move was highly questionable. After all, their competitor, Adsense, pays you for every click, and encourages you to take steps to increase CTR–so what it missing with Chitika? Besides, a pair of eyeballs is worth something, even if they don’t take out their credit card–ever heard of “branding” or “product research”? When I think of curiosity clicks, I think of clicks made of the “hmmm, what kind of advertising is this?” variety. I generally do not think of curiosity clicks as clicks made by someone who is genuinely interested in the product but who may lack the intention of buying at the exact moment. The very popular publisher program Chitika eMiniMalls announced yesterday that they must make some changes to their system “in response to working with their advertisers” and to “combat the curiosity clicking”. This means two things for you as a publisher:

Chitika will make some paying links on the eMiniMalls banner into ordinary text. Because of this your earnings and clicks will probably go down.

Because of this Chitika eMiniMalls have said that they will give an extra 10% bonus to publishers for two weeks to compensate for the loss in earnings. So this month you will earn 10% extra from every click your banner generates, maybe it’s time to earn more moneywith some simple tips and tricks?

The Chitika eMiniMalls publisher program is best for blogs and sites related to general items, such as gadgets, clothes, cameras etc. But non-product related sites/blogs can still use Chitika eMiniMalls. You just have to be smart. Here are some of my tips on how you can start making more money with the Chitika eMiniMalls publisher program:

1. Check your keywords!
This is probably one of the most important things you must do. You need to come up with relevant keywords for your site. Otherwise you won’t receive any clicks. Because you can’t have iPod or computer products on your Chitika banner if you have a site/blog about clothes.

If your site is a bout digital cameras you should try to add as many different digital camera keywords as possible. If you have a humor/joke site you should try to find funny movies, shows, games keywords etc etc. Well you get my point.

2. Who are your main visitors?
You should as much as possible try to figure out which kind of people your main visitors are. Are they men or women’s in their 20’s or are they kids from 10 years and up? When you know what kind of visitors you have you can easily come up with even more relevant keywords to show on your Chitika eMiniMalls banners. If your main visitor is a man with an average age of 20 you should try to add some more keywords for different cool gadgets, such as an iPod, laptop, cool things that a 20 year old man would be interested in.

3. Try different banner sizes!
Another thing you can do to get more clicks is to change banner size. Test out different banner sizes to see which ones will get you the most clicks. I have noticed that the larger the product image is on your Chitika eMiniMalls banner the more clicks you will generate. You can also try to make your banner blend in as much as possible to the rest of your site design. You should also try different banner placements. Maybe you have placed your banner in a bad spot where the visitor can’t see your banner so good?

4. Change your keywords often!
You should change your keywords now and then so that your visitor will be able to see new and hot products on your site. Your visitor won’t click the same product two times.

You can generate even more clicks and earn more money from the Chitika publisher program by just doing some simple changes to the design of the banner. At this moment Chitika doesn’t allow you to change so much on the banner that we might be used to from Adsense. But you should try to blend in your Chitika banners into your site as much as possible. This way they won’t look like ordinary advertisements banners and you will generate more clicks.

Text - This is the color of the description of the products in the ad.
You should color the text in the same colors as you have the text on your own site. There are some Adsense experts that recommends that you should have a slightly lighter color than the rest of your site. This way the text will stand out a bit more. If I were you I should experiment a bit on my site and see which colors works best.

Title - The title of the eMiniMall ad and the link colors on the banner.
The title color should be the same as the link color on your own site so the banner would (just as the text color) blend in better with the rest of the site and the users would easily understand that it is a link.

Border & Background - The borders and background around your banner.
If you have a white background on your site you should make your borders and your background on your Chitika banner white. This way your banner will not make any unnecessary visual barriers between your banner and your main content. This is also what all the Adsense experts thinks is the most powerful strategie to generate more clicks.

I got some good and some bad news for you all. Let’s start with the bad news shall we? My computer has broken down! Yep. It’s true. But that’s not the annoying part of the story. The stupid thing is that I am not allowed to fix the problem myself. I have to send it to the support so that they can fix it. And that will take at least 10 days. I will try to be as active as possible here during this hard period of time. Well enough about my problems!

Well you can choose several cool items such as an Ipod Mini or a PSP to promote on your site, or you can make it rotate all items at once. You can choose between several different banner sizes and you can customize every color of the banner.

You will get paid per clicks. One of the best things with his program is that if you have PayPal you will get your money when you have reached $10. If you don’t have paypal you must wait until you get $50 to get a check sent to you.
